Timor Leste Healthcare Worker Training Program (TLHTP)
The Timor Leste Healthcare Worker Training Program (TLHTP) started in 2011. To meet the growing needs for training of healthcare workers, CCI TL with National University Health System, Singapore and other healthcare volunteers from Singapore have conducted four successful courses between 2011 and 2016. In 2016, there were 34 participants; 25 young doctors, 6 nurses, 2 dentists and 1 pharmacist. The programme has helped save lives through the imparting of new skills and sharing of knowledge.
Vatunau Clinic in Liquica District serves the 12,303 residents in the three big villages of Valuvou, Dato and Fatukesi. The clinic sees 5500 – 6000 patients a year. In a collaboration to provide medical care to the people, funding was provided for the building of the clinic on land given by a community leader and the Timor Leste Government provided nurses and doctors and medical supplies. CCI TL provides primary care to some communities through mobile clinics. The genuine care of these doctors have touched the lives of the people.
