Adult Literacy Programme in Bangladesh

Most of the people in the Alamdanga area are poor farmers who are landless. They work on other people’s land as daily-rated labourers. They are often cheated because they are illiterate.

Care Channels recently started an Adult Literacy Programme with a female teacher teaching basic reading and arithmetic. This programme has made an impact in the community. The participants, who are presently all women, have gained respect and self-confidence. It has opened the way for building deeper relationship with the community and helping them with their needs.
