seeks
to give the poor an opportunity
to work through financial and skills assistance.
Financial institutions traditionally consider
the poor a high risk group. However CCI’s
training provide some business skills, plus a
small start-up capital, which often go a long
way to help the poor succeed in their small
business enterprises.
Successful businessmen and businesses are
brought in to mentor the entrepreneurial poor
in developing their businesses and markets.
Small struggling businesses are given help
in foundational business skills, improving
crop yield, marketing etc. Each successful
micro-entrepreneur coming out of this program
will contribute to alleviating their poverty.

Start-up funding
‘Seed-money’
is loaned to the poor as start-up capital
to help them in projects such as piggery or
goat-rearing. The participants working in
a team are trained to keep accounts, and to
save for a ‘rainy day’, as well
as pay back the loan. (back to top)
