There is dignity in work. "Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach him to fish and he eats for a lifetime". Handouts help in times of great need. But in the long run, working towards self-sufficiency, and dignity in one’s work is far better than dependency on handouts.
Care Channels seeks to help the poor through livelihood, community and other programs. Responding to the diverse needs of poverty, this labour-intensive, hand-made pressed flower calendar project* was started to provide work for poor families. |

Workers are employed in the production of these high-quality, hand-made products. This allows them to have a livelihood and equips them towards self-sufficiency. |
*Calendar design: All flowers are real, and are handpicked, pressed, dried and meticulously crafted into beautiful works of art. The 2008 flower calendar is designed according to the Japanese art of Ikebana.
